A 3D-printed splint/wafer is used for misalignments in the teeth and the upper or lower jaw. Such misalignments can cause issues like chewing and biting difficulties, speaking problems and concerns about appearance. When these problems cannot be resolved by an orthodontist, surgery may be necessary to restore the function and facial appearance.
During the surgery, the patient-specific splint/wafer is used to determine the new position of the upper or lower jaw in relation to the still non-operated jaw.
